Abstract

A simplified solution is obtained to the thermoelastohydrodynamic lubrication problem involving ellipsoidal contacts subjected to heavy loads. The results are plotted and discussed in terms of the pertinent dimensionless parameters. A set of formulas is proposed for the maximum temperature increases in the fluid film and of the bounding surfaces. A comparison is made with experimental data obtained elsewhere.
