ABSTRACT

5-oxatetracene derivatives including five fused rings have been synthesized by the use of carboxylated multiwall carbon nanotubes (CMWCNTs) as powerful nanocatalysts. The CMWCNTs showed a high efficiency under solvent-free conditions and a good recyclability. Catalyst loadings can be as low as 0.008 g to give corresponding products at 110°C. Using a standard catalyst, avoidance of toxic organic solvents, simple work-up procedure, short reaction times, and high yield of products are the major advantages of the present method.
