Abstract

In this study, the surface of magnetic nano-Fe3O4 NPs was functionalized with melamine-imidazole groups to synthesize a novel heterogeneous support (Fe3O4@SiO2@Si(CH2)3NH@CC@Im). Then, cobalt (II) acetate was added to the prepared support and, finally we used Fe3O4@SiO2@Si(CH2)3NH@CC@Im@Co in order to construct 2-amino-3-cyanopyridines from the reaction of aldehydes, acetophenones, malononitrile and ammonium acetate. Synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyanopyridines was achieved in one pot operation by utilizing a simple set of readily available starting materials in excellent product yields with short reaction time. Furthermore, the prepared green heterogeneous catalyst can be recycled and recovered six times.
