Abstract

A newer synthetic methodology of 5-Substituted-3-Phenyl-2-Thioxoimidazolidin-4-Ones has been reported using various amino acids, phenylisothiocyanate, and sodium oxalate in water, the reaction was monitored by chromatographic technique (TLC). Ten compounds were prepared, recrystallized, and characterized by sophisticated analytical methods such as 1H and 13C, NMR, IR, and Mass spectrometry. All the derivatives were screened for α amylase inhibition activity at different concentration level; the final result shows moderate to the good activity which is comparable with the std drug molecule.
