Abstract

This article proposes a procedure to mollify the temperature data prior to utilizing the inverse heat conduction problem methods for unknown heat flux estimation. The measured transient temperature data may be obtained from locations inside the body or on its inactive boundaries. Two case studies are used to investigate efficiency and accuracy of the mentioned procedure. The first case study is performed on a rectangular body, and the second one demonstrates the ability of the proposed method to estimated heat flux in a more complicated geometry. Mollifying measured data causes an increase in the accuracy and the stability of the estimation.
