Abstract
An inverse analysis is employed to estimate the unknown heat flux distribution over the heater surface of two-dimensional enclosures with irregular geometeries and non-gray participating media from the knowledge of desired temperature and heat flux distributions over the given design surface. The temperature distribution throughout the medium is specified. The radiative transfer equation is solved by modified discrete ordinates method combined with three models for simulation of non-gray media. The inverse problem is solved by the conjugate gradient method through an iterative procedure. The results obtained by all the models are verified and compared.
