Abstract
The problem of transient frictional heating in cold rolling of metals is considered. The roll is assumed to be composed of periodic concentric stratified cylinders with different thermal properties. First, the temperature distributions in the considered bodies are obtained by solving the corresponding boundary value problems of heat conduction. Next, the influence of the geometric and thermal properties of the composite rolls on the partition ratio of the friction heat and contact temperature is investigated.
