Abstract
A control volume-based, finite-element method is used in the computation of fluid flow in duels of irregular geometry. The flows considered here have a predominant flow direction, with no flow reversal; however, significant changes in the cross-sectional pressure necessitate the use of a partially parabolic computation procedure. Two benchmark problems with known solutions are used to validate the computational procedure. Two other test problems illustrate the differences between parabolic and partially parabolic formulations.
