Abstract

In this study the use of a multigrid method with an improved discretization scheme has been investigated for the solution of the fluid flow equations. The flux-spline scheme has been employed for convection-diffusion in the transport equations. The solution algorithm is based on a coupled solution of the continuity and momentum equations in conjunction with a multigrid method. Two test problems have been considered to assess the performance of the solution procedure. The flux-spline scheme leads to accurate solutions without requiring excessively fine grids. The solution algorithm is shown to be robust and rapidly convergent.
