Aromatic Plants of Rwanda. II. Chemical Composition of Essential Oils of Ten Eucalyptus Species Growing in Ruhande Arboretum, Butare, Rwanda

Abstract

The essential oils of ten Eucalyptus species grown in Rwanda have been examined by GC/MS. More than 100 compounds were characterized in the oils. E. maidenii and E. smithii oils were found to be rich in 1,8-cineole (70–85%), E. dives oil rich in piperitone (33%) and E. macarthurii oil rich in geranyl acetate (50%).
