Abstract
The essential oils of three species of Persea of southeastern North America were examined by GC/MS. Persea borbonia is characterized by camphor (34.77±3.69%) and 1,8-cineole (17.71±4.50%); P. humilis is characterized by camphor (46.95±2.82%) and 1,8-cineole (12.71±5.40%); while P. palustris is characterized by 1,8-cineole (17.05±8.71%), p-cymene (14.81±17.29%), and camphor (10.60±13.71%).
