Abstract
The essential oils of Ichthyothere terminalis (leaves and stems) and I. cunabi (leaves) produced from wild plants growing at different locations of Amazon have been examined by GC and GC/MS. The chief constituent found in the leaf oil of sample of, I terminalis collected at Marapanim (PA) was sabinene (18.0%). The leaf oil of I. terminalis collected at Manaus (AM) was dominated by α-pinene (19–8%), sabinene (14.8%) and limonene (35.8%), while the main components identified in the stem oil were α-pinene (13.9%) and limonene (20.0%). The chief components of leaf oil of I. cunabi collected at Vigia (PA) were α-pinene (8.5%) and β-pinene (5.2%).
