Abstract
The essential oils of leaves of Piper gaudichaudianum (samples A and B) and P. regnellii collected at campus of Sao Paulo University, in Southeast Brazil, were analyzed by GC/MS. The major constituents identified in sample-A of P. gaudichaudianum were β-caryophyllene (12.1%), α-humulene (13.3%), β-selinene (15.7%) and α-selinene (16.6%). The sample-B was dominated by β-caryophyllene (19.3%), α-humulene (29.2%) and β-selinene (8.9%). The main constituents found in the oil of P. regnelii were β-caryophyllene (23.4%), (E)-nerolidol (13.7%) and spathulenol (11.1%).
