The water distilled leaf oil of Zanthoxylum chalybeum Engl, was investigated by GC and GC/MS. Twenty two compounds representing 96.0% of the oil were identified of which 1,8-cineole (24.3%), sabinene (11.1%), geranial (10.7%), neral (8.2%), limonene (6.4%), linalool (5.3%), trans-p-menth-2-en-1-ol (5.3%), α-terpineol ((5.0%) and terpinen-4-ol (5.0%) were the major components.
