Abstract

The oils obtained by steam distillation of the aerial parts and hydrodistillation of seed of Prangos uloptera DC. growing wild in Iran were investigated by a combination of GC and GC/MS. Twenty-one compounds in the oil of the aerial parts, and 12 compounds in the seed oil have been identified. The main constituents of the oil of the aerial parts were β-caryophyllene (18.2%), germacrene D (17.2%) and limonene (8.7%), whereas the seed oil comprised mainly α-pinene (41.9%) and β-cedrene (4.0%).
