Abstract
The essential oils of both species of genus Microstrobos have been examined by GC and GC/MS. Microstrobos fitzgeraldii produced an oil in which α-pinene (22.7%), myrcene (24.1%) and hibaene (27.0%) were the most significant components. The oil from M. niphophilus contained α-pinene (26.9%), limonene (30.5%) and myrcene (20.8%) as principal components. No diterpenes were found in this latter oil. The oil yield in both cases was 0.2–0.3%.
