Abstract
The chemical composition of the leaf oils of Psidium wrightii Krug et Urb., Lantana involucrata L., Cinnamomum montanum (Sw.) Berchtold et J. Persl. and Caesalpinia violacea (Mill.) Standley from Cuba were studied by GC and combined GC/MS. Ninety-six compounds of the oil of P. wrightii were identified, of which 1,8-cineole (46.9%) was the major constituent. In the oil obtained from L. involucrate, 78 compounds were identified, of which α-eudesmol (24.9%) was the major constituent. Seventy-five components were identified in the oil of C. montanum; the major constituents were β-caryophyllene (20.3%), caryophyllene alcohol (11.9%) and spathulenol (12.0%). Eighty compounds were identified in the oil of C. violacea; the major constituents were β-caryophyllene (16.5%), spathulenol (14.6%) and germacrene D (12.7%).
