Abstract

A study of the chemical composition of supercritical CO2 extracts at 65 and 150 bar of Yaka, Prilep and Otlja tobaccos was performed using GC and GC/MS. The main constituents in all extracts were the mixture of n-alkanes, C25-C33 (from 25.6% for Yaka at 65 bar to 40.0% for Otlja at 150 bar), agatholic acid (from 4.1% for Otlja to 9.1% for Yaka, both at 150 bar), neophytadiene (from 2.3% for Yaka at 150 bar to 9.0% for Otlja at 65 bar) and 8,13-epoxy-14-labden-12-ol (from 4.1% for Prilep to 6.5% Yaka for both at 65 bar). Also detected in all extracts were tobacco-specific compounds such as nicotine, solanone, norsolanadione and 4,8,13-duvatriene-1,3-diol.
