Abstract
Leaf and stem bark oils of Cinnamomum sulphuratum Nees obtained by hydrodistillation were analyzed by GC/FID and GC/MS. Benzyl benzoate was found to be the major constituent in the leaf oil (89.5%) as well as in the stem bark oil (98.2%). The results obtained varied considerably from the earlier reports on the leaf and stem bark oils of C. sulphuratum, suggesting that the material studied is a new natural chemotype.
