Abstract
Responses are given to the issues raised by the three reactants to the 1996 Coleman Roberts Griffith Address. In line with Burton and Naylor's (1997) recommendations. it is suggested that anxiety researchers need to seriously re-consider the ways in which the basic constructs underpinning anxiety-performance research are defined and measured. However, much of Duda's (1997) rebuttal of Hardy's (1997) interpretation of the goal orientations literature is strongly countered on both theoretical and empirical grounds. Finally, additional evidence offered by Hall (1997) on the use of different visual imagery perspectives is acknowledged.
