I presented an abbreviated version of this tribute at the NCA convention in Chicago, 2004. I loved, lived and wrote with Janice for almost 24 years. I would like to thank Art Bochner for his careful reading of earlier versions of this story, although I greatly regret having to write it.

Lamar Hocker died on January 31, 2005. He, too, now rests in the Tincup cemetery beside his beloved wife, Jean, and his daughter, Janice. He did not die of cancer, a small consolation for those who knew and loved him.
