Abstract

This essay examines the clash between the sanctuary movement and the United States government regarding the admission to the United States of Central. American refugees. By using a Burkeian dramatistic approach, the study shows how different scenes operating for the two sides motivate opposing rhetorical agencies. Burke's concept of identification serves as the framework for analyzing the agencies.
