Progress of advanced transport modeling of toroidal plasmas

Pages 1029-1031 | Received 09 Oct 2020, Accepted 29 Oct 2020, Published online: 03 Feb 2021

Abstract

Integrated modeling is required for predicting the behavior of burning plasma in fusion devices. Core plasma transport modeling is a key component which describes the time evolution of plasma profile. Between the simple 1D diffusive transport model and the large-scale microscopic turbulent transport simulation, advanced transport modeling which requires decent computational resource is desired. Two approaches, 1D fluid transport modeling and 3D kinetic transport modeling, are discussed.
