Abstract
Fission products emitted from 252Cf source have been registered in Triafol-TN, Triafol-BN, SR-86(20) and ZnP-glass detectors. The latent damage trails created by these fission products have been chemically developed under suitable conditions. Detectors have been characterised in terms of etching isotropy, critical etch parameters and maximum etchable track lengths. The most probable track lengths have been compared with the theoretically computed values from codes RF and TRIM. Identification of the fission products was done from the experimental values of the maximum etchable track lengths and the theoretical ranges obtained with the computer program ‘FFR’.
