Ring and Chain Systems in Structures of Organo Antimony(III) and Bismuth(III) Halides

Abstract

Alkylantimony (III) and -bismuth(III) halides, R₂EX, REX₂, (E = Sb, Bi; X = Cl, Br, I) tend to form oligomeric or polymeric structures through halogen bridges between the pnicogen atoms. In this article the crystal structures of several examples with sterically more (R = (Me₃Si)₂CH) or less (R = CH₃) demanding organic substituents are discussed.
