Potentially tridentate ligand, phenylselenoethylaminopent-3-en-2-one [PhSe(CH2)2NH-C(CH3)CHC(=O)(CH3)], having (N,O,Se) donors set has been synthesized from the condensation of 2,4 pentanedione with Phenylselenoethylamine and its reactivity towards Pt(II) has been evaluated for extended reach structures.
