Abstract

Recently, differently functionalized polythiophenes (PTs) have found a broad application in material chemistry. Now, we are working in our laboratories on the synthesis of such derivatives functionalized at the third postion of a thiophene ring with a substituent containing a stereogenic heteroatom. In this paper, we would like to report our preliminary results devoted to the chemo- and electropolymerizations of monomeric thiophene derivatives. The classical three-electrode system used for electropolymerization carried out on platinum (Pt), glassy carbon (GC), and gold (Au) electrodes in acetonitrile with lithium perchlorate as the supporting electrolyte electrolyte will be presented. The chemical polymerization was based on the oxidative coupling using ferric chloride, leading to high molecular weight products.
