Spectroscopic and structural investigation of BaNaP₃O₉.3H₂O cyclotriphosphate

Abstract

The cyclotriphosphate BaNaP₃O₉.3H₂O was re-investigated by X-ray diffraction and vibrational spectroscopy. Raman and infrared spectra of BaNaP₃O₉.3H₂O have been recorded and interpreted on the basis of factor group analysis. The occurrence of the ν_as and νs (POP and exo-cyclic group PO₂) in the vibrational spectra confirm the existence of the cycle P₃O₉³⁻. The absence of coincidences for the majority of the IR and Raman bands observed for this compound is in accord with results of re-determination of centrosymmetric structure.
