GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT

Abstract

A simple, rapid, efficient, and environmental method for the preparation of phosphonate derivatives has been realized using the reaction of 1-(6-hydroxy-2-isopropenyl-1-benzofuran-yl)-1-ethanone, malononitrile or ethyl cyanoacetate, and trialkyl phosphites or triaryl phosphites in water as the solvent at room temperature.
