Abstract

Phosphonate framework structures are now known with a variety of transition metals, p-block elements as well as lanthanides.1–3 The self-assembly of such phosphonate metal organic frameworks depends on numerous synthetic parameters related to the reaction conditions: temperature, time, reactant molar ratio, pH, pressure, and structural factors, such as: nature of incorporated metal, geometry of the phosphonic acid, protonation degree, presence of other coordinating moieties on the phosphonate backbone.4,5 Cerium vinylphosphonate was obtained in our laboratories by the reaction of Ce(NO3)3.6H2O, vinyl phosphonic acid in 2:3 ratio under hydrothermal conditions.
