The present work is intended to provide a process for synthesizing anhydroecgonine derivatives without using cocaine as a starting material. This process involves the synthesis of an anhydroecgonine bearing sulphonyl group instead of carboxylate group at the position C2 for the tropane system, from 7-(p-toluenesulphonyl)cyclohepta-2,4,6-triene and a variety of amines.
