Catalyst-free Friedel-Crafts reaction of 1-(N-acylamino)- and 1-imidoalkyltriarylphosphonium salts with arenes

Abstract

Friedel-Crafts reactions of 1-(N-acylamino)- and 1-imidoalkyltriarylphosphonium salts with arenes or heteroarenes without the need for any catalysts provide access to a wide range of compounds of interesting biological properties and potential use in the organic synthesis. Depending on the substrates structure and conditions, the reaction can be conducted selectively with high yields toward N-(1-arylalkyl)amides, 1-arylalkylphosphonium salts or N-(1-arylalkyl)imides.
