Foreword for international conference on phosphorus chemistry – ICPC 22

I am delighted to present a collection of accepted plenary, oral and poster papers from ICPC 22 that represent a broad and fascinating fusion of topics that span research interests in phosphorus chemistry. They were peer reviewed by members of the Scientific Committee. The conference was held in Budapest, Hungary from 8th–13th July 2018.

Phosphorus Sulfur and Silicon and the Related Elements Editorial Board member, Professor György Keglevich served as an outstanding Conference Chair, and I am pleased to have worked with him to develop the submissions presented here. They fit the themes of the conference including new reagents and methods in organophosphorus chemistry, organophosphorus compounds in catalysis, organophosphorus coordination chemistry, environmentally-friendly (“green”) phosphorus chemistry, enantioselective syntheses/optically active organophosphorus compounds, inorganic phosphorus chemistry, biologically active organophosphorus compounds, theoretical aspects of organophosphorus chemistry, phosphorus in life science and industrial organophosphorus chemistry. Our regular issues of the journal also feature topics such as these.

I would like to extend my warm thanks to the Scientific and Organizing Committees of ICPC 22 especially Professors Frank Ebetino (University of Rochester, USA, Chair) and Charles McKenna (University of Southern California, USA, co-Chair) for their support of our publishing cooperation, and those who carried out the local work that was done to bring the conference together; Taylor and Francis provided financial support for the meeting, and I am appreciative of the work of our Managing Editor, Kaleigh Sunday, who operationalizes the contracts with the conference planners, and our Production Editor, Jacqueline Carrick who provides great assistance in creating the final look of these more than 90 papers, as a cohesive special issue.

With my very best wishes,

Martin D. Rudd
