Abstract
A simple, one-pot synthesis of six highly functionalized selenazole derivatives has been achieved in moderate to good yields via a three-component condensation of variously substituted hydrazines, potassium selenocyanate, aroyl chlorides, and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate in acetone at room temperature. The structures of the compounds were deduced from elemental analysis and their infrared (IR), 77Se nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectra. This new protocol offers advantages such as mild reaction conditions, easy work-up, and high yields.
