Abstract

3-diethylchlorogermylamino 2-methylthiophoate was synthesized by intermolecular dehydrochlorination between diethyldichlorogermane and 3-amino 2-methylthiophoate (TPNH2) in the presence of triethyl-amine. It was observed that the (TPNH—) group enhance the reactivity of the germanium-halogen bond and allows an easy synthesis of gem-diamine Et2Ge(NHTP)2 and germazane (Et2GeNTP)2. With two equivalents of methanol the germazane (Et2GeNTP)2 presents consecutive selective cleavage reactions which can be interpreted in terms of steric decompression and enhancement of the electrophilic character of the germanium center in the intermediary compound Et2(OMe)Ge—NTP—GeEt2—NHTP.
