Abstract

The title compounds 4 in the presence of thionylchloride lead to the heterocycles 5′ or 5″ resulting from (S) or O sulfonylation of the (thio)urea group and not to sulfohydantoins 5 (N sulfonylation) (Figure 4). Evidence is given for sulfonyl and not Villsmeier's type urea activation.
