Abstract

Dibenzoylmethane dibromide (5) and 1,3-indandione dibromide (6) react with ylide-phosphoranes 1a[sbnd]c to give the α,β-unsaturated esters 10 and 13, respectively. All intermediates are isolated and identified. Structures 10 and 13 as well as the intermediates were confirmed by compatible analytical and spectroscopic results.
