Abstract
The reaction of the alkyl- and aryl- substituted halophosphonium halides 2 and 4 with N-trimethylsilyl-N,N′,N′-trimethylethylenediamine 1 furnished compounds 3 and 5. No intramolecular donor-acceptor interaction between the nitrogen atom of the NMe2 grouping and phosphorus was observed by 1H NMR spectroscopy. There was no reaction of triisopropyl- and tris-diethylamino-substituted halophosphonium halides with compound 1. Attempts to exchange the halide anion in 3 and 5 by the non-coordinating [BPh4]− anion, possibly inducing intramolecular Me2N → P coordination, failed.
