Abstract
The (Et4N) [Pt(Ph2SO)Cl3] complex was obtained by the interaction of [PlCl4]2- and Ph2SO in a MeCNH2O mixture and also resulted from the bridge-splitting reaction of (Et4N)2[Pt2(μ-Cl)2Cl4] using a stoichiometric amount of diphenyl sulfoxide. The (Et4N)[Pt(Ph2SO)Cl3] compound crystallizes in a monoclinic P 21//n space group with a = 11.525(4), b = 11.078 (3), c = 19.106(7) Å, γ = 102.02(3)0, V = 2386(3) A3, Z = 4, pcaled = 1.76 g cm−3. This complex is a rare example of a structurally characterized compound containing a S-coordinated diary] sulfoxide ligand.
