PHENYLARSENIC(III) DERIVATIVES OF SOME THIOSEMICARBAZONES

Abstract

Complexes having the general formula PhAs[SC(NH₂):NN:C(R)R′]_nCl_2-n where (n = 1 or 2) have been synthesized by the reaction of phenylarsenic(III) dichloride with thiosemicarbazones in the presence of triethylamine in stoichiometric ratios in refluxing THF solution. These complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses and molecular weight measurements. Their plausible structure has been assigned on the basis of spectral (IR, ¹H and ¹³C NMR) studies.
