Abstract

The reaction of thiourea with several sulfur (II)-nitrogen compound as well as thioethers and thiphenol have been investigated. At room temperature reaction of thiourea with N,N'-dithiobisamines afford compounds of composition H2N-C(S)-NH-S-S-NR2 while at high temperature sulfur and a complex mixture of S-N compounds are formed. N,N'-thiobismorpholine undergoes sulfuration with thiourea, to give N,N'-tetrathiomorpholine while from the reaction of N,N'-thiobis(piperidine) with thiourea the compound H2N-C(S)-NH-S-N

was identified. From the reaction of thiourea with sulfenamides, dithioethers and thiophenol the unaltered reactives were isolated.
