Abstract

Lithiated thiophenes 3 cleaved S[sbnd]S bond of 4,4-disubstituted 1,2-dithiolane 1 and naphthalene-1,8-disulfide 5 to give the ring opened products 2 and 6, respectively, in excellent yields.
