Synthesis of Tripodal Triphosphines and Their Derivatives

Abstract

A general strategy for the synthesis of a series of tripodal triphosphines XC[(CH₂)ⁿPR₂]₃ (where X=H or Me, n=1−4) has been sought. Particular emphasis has been placed on attempts to synthesize a series member XC[(CH₂)_n+1PR₂]₃ from its precursor XC[(CH₃)_nPR₂]₃. We will present the results of our synthetic efforts, together with the characterization of a number of new tripodal triphosphines and their derivative oxides. Some “ether-legged” tripodal triphosphines have also been synthesized.
