Abstract

Starting from thiophene (6), the sequence 2,5-diiodothiophene (7), 2,5-bismethoxythiophene (8), 3,4-dibromo-2,5-bismethoxythiophene (9) finally leads to the title compound 5. The 1H-and 13C-NMR, the MS and IR data and the structure of 5 are reported.
