Pages 24-31 | Published online: 30 May 2013

Abstract

A national survey of MSW social work programs was conducted to ascertain the extent to which curricula include content on DSM-III and the perceived advantages and disadvantages of this practice nosology. The findings suggest strong, pragmatically based support for the inclusion of DSM-III content, although philosophical and ethical concerns related to labeling clients continue to be heard.
