Abstract
An analysis of the policy curriculum contents of 66 MSW and 78 BSW programs is presented in this paper. Despite the CSWE curriculum policy guidelines and accreditation standards, a laissez-faire doctrine seems to prevail. The guiding principles utilized to develop course contents varied from instructor to instructor. The credit requirements and specific tasks covered in contents were so skewed from program to program that it is highly probable that students may experience either extreme redundancy or extreme underexposure to certain policy contents. If this pattern continues, students can complete their education with less than the minimum policy base needed to function as professionals.
