Abstract

This study reviews student performance in the University of Pittsburgh Extended Master of Social Work and traditional Master of Social Work programs in the areas of foundation knowledge (Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Generic Practice, Social Welfare, and Research) and practice values related to the field of social work. The EMSW program was designed as an experimental program to evaluate the feasibility of fulfilling academic requirements on a part-time basis without the full-time residency requirement and with minimal interruption to students' employment and/or family responsibilities.
