Social Work Education and Students' Humanistic Attitudes

Pages 13-19 | Published online: 25 Jul 2013

Abstract

This article uses a random sample of undergraduate social work students to examine the influence of social work education on students' humanistic attitudes. Regression analysis is utilized to explore the relationship between the number of social work courses completed by students and their attitudes about human nature and social justice. These analyses controlled for the effects of age, gender and race. Results indicate that social work education has a positive association with attitudes concerning human nature, but no relationship to students' attitudes about social justice.
