Pages 29-35 | Published online: 25 Jul 2013

Abstract

The author advocates shifting away from cognitively oriented “minority content” and proposes a skills based, affectively oriented approach to “minority practice”, in which classroom experience echoes the affective and behavioral impact sought in field practica. The paper considers “professional application” : An amalgam of field instruction and classroom practice. The paper offers case examples of methods which capture the essence of field experience within classroom settings.
