Teaching Mediation Theory and Skills in an Interdisciplinary Classroom

Pages 185-194 | Accepted 01 Sep 1997, Published online: 20 Mar 2014

Abstract

Leaders in the mediation field have debated the best method of training practitioners and whether mediation should have a professional education/training program. The author supports arguments for professionalization of mediation and elaborates the role of educators in developing a curriculum by presenting a model for teaching the principles of family mediation in an interdisciplinary classroom. Student comments are interspersed to illustrate the changes students experienced through the course of a semester.
